Security System Design
for Creative Professionals
We work directly with architects, interior designers, MEP engineers, and property developers in the Salem area to integrate security systems intelligently into new builds and renovations — at the stage of design where it matters most.
We Work With the People Who Design Buildings
Security is a low-voltage discipline that touches every other trade on a project. The architects, engineers, and designers who shape Salem’s new construction pipeline deserve a security partner who speaks their language, respects their timelines, and delivers documentation that actually fits into their process.
Architects
We provide camera layout drawings, access control placement plans, and specification documentation that integrates cleanly into your drawing sets and permit packages. We understand finish quality and don’t let security compromise the aesthetic of your design.
MEP Engineers
We coordinate directly with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers on conduit routing, panel locations, and power requirements. Our documentation is formatted for your specifications and we handle the low-voltage scope cleanly so your drawings stay accurate.
Interior Designers
We work with interior designers to ensure cameras, readers, and security hardware are positioned and finished in ways that complement your interior vision — not conflict with it. Flush mounts, concealed wiring, and hardware finishes that match your spec.
Structural Engineers
When your structural drawings include security hardware mounting points, wall penetrations, or conduit chase requirements, we coordinate early to avoid conflicts and rework in the field. We bring the security scope to your coordination meetings.
Property Developers
Salem developers working on commercial buildings, multi-family housing, or mixed-use projects need security systems spec’d intelligently before construction begins. We partner with your development team from pre-design through occupancy.
Owner’s Representatives
If you’re managing a project on behalf of an owner and need a security consultant who can produce proper documentation, coordinate with the design team, and deliver a system that meets the owner’s expectations — that’s exactly what we do.
What We Bring to Your Project in Salem
We provide real deliverables that fit into your existing design and documentation workflow — not vague consultations that leave you doing the spec work yourself.
Early-Stage Security Consultation
The best security outcomes start at the beginning of the design process. We join your project early to evaluate the building program, occupancy type, threat model, and design intent — then develop a security strategy that’s integrated, not bolted on.
- Security program review and gap analysis
- Occupancy-appropriate threat modeling
- Entry point and perimeter assessment
- Budget range guidance at design phase
- System architecture recommendations
Specification & Submittal Support
We produce security specification documentation in formats your team can actually use — equipment spec sheets, camera coverage diagrams, access control door schedules, and wiring documentation for your permit package or design submittal.
- Camera layout drawings (CAD-compatible)
- Equipment cut sheets and spec sheets
- Access control door hardware schedule
- Wiring and conduit documentation
- As-built documentation support
Low-Voltage Rough-In Coordination
Security infrastructure runs in the same walls as everything else. We coordinate with your electrical and MEP team during the design phase to map conduit paths, panel locations, and junction box placements — before the framing crew is on-site.
- Conduit routing coordination drawings
- Panel and NVR location planning
- Power requirements for security hardware
- Coordination with electrical engineer of record
- Rough-in inspection documentation
Access Control System Design
Access control is where security intersects most directly with architectural design — doors, hardware, finishes, and adjacency planning all matter. We spec complete access control systems from the door hardware schedule through the credential management platform.
- Door hardware and reader specifications
- Access zone mapping and hierarchy
- Time schedule and credential logic
- Integration with fire alarm and elevator systems
- Mobile credential and intercom options
Surveillance System Planning
Camera placement is part art, part engineering. We produce coverage drawings that show actual field-of-view based on lens specifications and mounting heights — so you know what you’re getting before anything is installed.
- Field-of-view coverage diagrams
- Indoor and outdoor camera type selection
- NVR sizing and storage calculations
- Aesthetic mounting and finish coordination
- CCTV system integration documentation
Construction Phase Support
We don’t disappear after the spec is written. We stay involved through construction — attending coordination meetings, reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs related to the security scope, and being on-site during pre-wire and trim-out phases.
- OAC meeting participation (security scope)
- RFI response for security-related items
- Submittal review and approval coordination
- Pre-wire and trim-out installation
- Commissioning and owner training
Security Through Environmental Design
The most effective security doesn’t announce itself — it’s built into the design of the space. We apply CPTED principles (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) alongside our technical security expertise to create buildings that are inherently more secure through their architecture, not just their hardware.
Natural Surveillance
Design that maximizes visibility — sightlines, lighting placement, and camera positioning that deter threats before they materialize rather than documenting them after the fact.
Access Control by Design
Physical and electronic access control that flows naturally from the building’s circulation logic — not imposed awkwardly on top of it. Entry hierarchies that make sense to occupants.
Territorial Reinforcement
Clear definition of public, semi-public, and private zones through design elements — not just signs. Spaces that communicate their intended use and ownership naturally.
Maintenance & Activity Support
Security systems designed for long-term reliability — not just impressive at commissioning. Systems your facilities team can actually manage and maintain without specialized training.
From Design Phase to Owner Handoff
We’re flexible about when and how we get involved — but earlier is always better for your budget and the quality of the result.
Initial Design Consultation
We review your project program, building type, occupancy classification, and design intent. Based on this, we develop a preliminary security strategy and identify the key decision points your design team needs to address early — entry control locations, camera mounting surfaces, conduit routing zones, and panel room requirements.
Design Development & Specification
As design develops, we produce detailed security drawings and specifications that integrate with your drawing set. Camera coverage diagrams, access control door schedules, equipment specifications, and conduit coordination drawings are formatted for your workflow — whether that’s AutoCAD, Revit, or your firm’s standard format.
Construction Document Support
We produce the final documentation for your construction document set — refined specifications, cut sheets, wiring schematics, and any required submittal documentation. We also coordinate with the electrical engineer of record on power, conduit, and low-voltage scope boundaries.
Construction Phase & Pre-Wire
We attend coordination meetings as needed, respond to RFIs on the security scope, and perform the pre-wire installation during the framing phase. We coordinate with your GC directly so the construction process stays clean and on schedule.
Commissioning & Owner Handoff
We complete the trim-out, commission the full system, and produce as-built documentation for the project record. The owner receives a complete system documentation package and hands-on training before we close out the project.
We Know Oregon’s Requirements
Security systems in Oregon are subject to licensing, code, and industry standards that vary by building type and occupancy. We stay current on the requirements that affect your Salem project.
Oregon CCB Licensing
All Minted Secure technicians are properly licensed under Oregon’s Construction Contractors Board requirements for low-voltage and alarm system installation.
Oregon Building Code
We design security systems that comply with Oregon Structural Specialty Code requirements for fire alarm integration, access control egress requirements, and related provisions.
Healthcare & HIPAA Considerations
For Salem’s growing healthcare sector, we design surveillance systems with HIPAA-appropriate considerations for camera placement, data storage, and access permissions in medical environments.
Life Safety & Egress Integration
Access control systems must be designed to release locks on fire alarm activation. We design systems that comply with IBC and NFPA requirements for life safety coordination with access control.
Government Facility Standards
Salem’s government contractor facilities often require additional security standards. We have experience with the access control and surveillance requirements for government-adjacent construction projects in Marion County.
Network & IT Infrastructure
Modern IP security systems run on the building’s network. We coordinate with your IT infrastructure requirements and provide network segmentation recommendations that keep security systems on appropriate VLANs.
A&E Security Services Throughout the Willamette Valley
We work with design teams on projects throughout Salem, Marion County, and the surrounding Willamette Valley region — from early schematic design through construction completion.
